The Squamish Oceanfront Development Corporation will plan, administer, promote and develop the Squamish downtown oceanfront land and marine assets for the maximum benefit of the community and Sea to Sky visitors
SOD Corp will champion the revitalization of the oceanfront by providing leadership and energy in fostering economic diversity, environmental stewardship, SmartGrowth principles and community involvement.
The Mandate
The Squamish Oceanfront Development Corporation has been created by the District of Squamish to develop the newly acquired oceanfront property in synergy with other downtown lands. This independent and for profit corporation will create the conditions for a model oceanfront community to become a reality.
SOD Corp will build on and extend the Squamish Downtown Waterfront Charrette Design Brief (2004) to unite the community in realizing its re-connection with the oceanfront. SOD Corp will engage the development community in creative and innovative undertakings. Assets in the land and water lots will finance the work of the Corporation for the development of residential, marine, commercial and light industrial, cultural and tourism facilities.
